Objective: To analyze the effect of family intervention program based on positive psychology on the mental state and quality of life of prostate cancer patients. Methods: According to the continuous enrollment method, seventy-six patients were recruited from a tumor center. 38 patients were assigned to the intervention group and 38 to the control group. All of the participates received routine health education and the intervention group participated in family intervention based on positive psychology. Acceptance and Action Questionnaire II (AAQ-II), Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Prostate (FACT-P) were assessed before intervention (T1), immediately after the intervention (T2), and one month after the intervention (T3). Results: Sixty-eight patients completed the intervention program and follow-up. At T2, the AAQ-II score of the intervention group was (18.79±5.24), the SCL-90 score was (138.45±10.56), and the FACT-P score was (105.58±11.66). For control group, the scores of AAQ-II, SCL-90 and FACT-P were (21.05±5.19), (142.98±11.63) and (101.20±9.54) respectively. The differences between the scores were statistical significance (P<0.05). At T3, the AAQ-II and SCL-90 scores of intervention group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05) respectively, and FACT-P was higher (P<0.05). The repeated analysis of variance found that the scores of AAQ-II and SCL-90 of the intervention group were significantly improved after the intervention (P<0.05). Covariance analysis found that after excluding the time effect, the intervention program could significantly decrease the patient's AAQ-II and SCL-90 scores, and increase the patient's score of FACT-P (P<0.05). Conclusion: The family intervention based on positive psychology can improve the mental status and quality of life of prostate cancer patients. It is necessary for medical staff to provide psychological support for patients with prostate cancer during treatment.

Abstract ( 225 )   PDF (3265KB) ( 265 )
Objective: To investigate the anxiety of nurses working at the government-designated hospitals during COVID-19 epidemic and analyze its influencing factors. Methods: A cross-sectional survey using the Self-rating Anxiety Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale and Trait Coping Style Questionnaire was performed for nurses working at the government-designated hospitals of Sichuan, Chongqing, and Hubei Province. Results: A total of 1749 nurses were surveyed. The average score of SAS was 44.46 ± 10.05, which were significantly higher than that of the Chinese norm (P<0.01). Using the total standard score ≥ 50 as the cutpoint, the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in these nurses was 26.7%, with the highest incidence of anxiety in the nurses working at the isolation wards. Negative coping style score was positively correlated with SAS score, while positive coping style and social support were negatively correlated with SAS score (P<0.05). Multivariate liner regression analysis showed main factors associated with anxiety symptoms were negative coping style, being in the isolation wards and other high infection risk departments, being in the management position, being in the front line of Wuhan, and longer length of service, while positive coping, external social support and having work experience in emergency events could alleviate anxiety. Conclusion: The nurses working at the government-designated hospitals during the COVID-19 epidemic had obvious anxiety symptoms, especially the front-line nurses, senior nurses and head nurses who were in close contact with patients. Managers should establish comprehensive programs to help medical professionals cope with these stressors. Moreover, more nurses should be prepared and trained for these emergency events.

ZANG Rui, ZHANG Yan, WEN Ya
Chinese Nursing Management. 2021, 21 (2):  307-310.  DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1672-1756.2021.02.030
Abstract ( 180 )   PDF (2250KB) ( 139 )
Objective: To examine the effect of End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide Partial Pressure (PETCO2) monitoring in indwelling gastric tube of comatose patients. Methods: Following convenient sampling, a totall of 44 comatose patients in the Emergency Intensive Care Unit were enrolled in the study, and they were equally divided into control group (n=22) and intervention group (n=22). In the control group, the gastric tubes were placed in the traditional way. In the intervention group, the gastric tubes were implanted under the monitoring of PETCO2. The time spent on indwelling a gastric tube, the one-time intubation success rate, hemodynamic changes and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two methods. Results: All 44 patients were successfully intubated with the indwelling gastric tubes. The time spent on indwelling a gastric tube in the intervention group [(4.87±1.03) min] was shorter than that in the control group [(7.22±2.51) min] (P<0.05), and the one-time intubation success rate of the intervention group (63.64%) was higher than that of the control group (50.00%). The fluctuation values of heart rate, respiration, blood oxygen saturation, and mean arterial pressure in the intervention group during gastric tube intubation were smaller than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of coughing, nausea and vomiting in the intervention group (4.55%, 13.64%) was lower than that in the control group (31.82%, 45.45%) (P<0.05). Conclusion: According to our results, the placement of the gastric tube in comatose patients with PETCO2 monitoring can not only reduce possible adverse stimulation, but also can efficiently and effectively assist nurses to determine the positioning of a gastric tube. Thus, the placement of the gastric tube in comatose patients with PETCO2 monitoring could improve the work efficiency of nurses and reduce complications.
