Abstract: Psychological distress is a complex stress experience that not only causes emotional dysregulation in patients but also may trigger social dysfunction and even increase suicide risk. As an emerging technology, digital phenotyping can accurately capture patients' digital characteristics through multimodal data collection, and adopts machine learning and data mining technologies to quantitatively identify digital indicators of psychological distress, thereby providing new opportunities and challenges for the precise assessment and standardized management of patients' psychological distress. This article reviews the application mechanisms, current status, challenges, and implication of digital phenotyping in psychological distress, aiming to promote its application and development in the field of psychological distress nursing in China.
