Abstract: Objective: To explore a Competency-Based Education (CBE) training model for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) outpatient nurses to promote high-quality talent development. Methods: Guided by CBE and using a TCM nursing outpatient platform, a full-cycle, competency-centered, and closed-loop training system was developed in a tertiary grade A TCM hospital in Henan province. Outcomes before and after implementation were compared. Results: Totally 85 clinical observation nurses and 29 qualified TCM outpatient nurses were trained, including 9 national TCM nursing talents, 8 specialized TCM heritage practitioners, and 2 provincial young nursing stars. After training, the excellence rates of TCM nursing theory and technical operation among the outpatient nurses reached 72.4% and 75.9% respectively. Patient satisfaction reached 98.2%. Initial achievements had been made in scientific research innovation and career development. Conclusion: The CBE model shifts training from time-based to outcome-based, bridges theory-practice gaps, improves talent echelons, and provides a reliable basis for training TCM outpatient nurses.
