Abstract: Objective: To investigate the status quo and influencing factors of self-care ability of patients with urostomy, so as to provide theoretical basis for clinical intervention. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from February to August 2023 using convenience sampling among 249 urostomy patients from four tertiary grade A hospitals in Yunnan, Guizhou and Chongqing, China. In addition to demographic questions, Ostomy Self-Care Index (OSCI), the Mutuality Scale and the General Self-Efficacy Scale were used for evaluation. Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis was employed to identify the influencing factors of the self-care ability of patients with urostomy. Results: The mean overall OSCI score regarding urostomy patients was 59.94±17.85. The results of multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that education level, frequency of stoma appliance replacement, whether patients had stoma problems, general self-efficacy and mutuality were the predictors of self-care ability of urostomy patients (P<0.05). Conclusion: The self-care ability of patients with urostomy is low. Medical staff should pay attention to the self-care ability of patients, and construct a multi-dimensional intervention program based on education level, complication prevention, nursing skills training and social support system to improve the quality of life of patients.
