Practice of a rehabilitation specialist nurse training base based on Competency-Based Education

Abstract: Objective: To explore a rehabilitation specialist nurse training system based on Competency-Based Education, aiming to promote the high-quality development of rehabilitation nursing education. Methods: Since 2016, based on national and provincial platforms, the training base set the training goals and the "Five-Classroom" training system tailored for the capacity building of rehabilitation specialist nurses guided by job competency. Through evaluation and assessment, the program promoted systematic competency development and enhanced job adaptability among trainees. Results: The base has completed training for 227 national and provincial rehabilitation specialist nurses, with trainee satisfaction exceeding 99%. The average Objective Structure Clinical Examination score for core skills surpassed 85, showing more than a 20% improvement from baseline. In total, 113 academic papers were published, 53 research projects were initiated, and 19 national patents were granted. Conclusion: The rehabilitation specialist nurse training system effectively aligns cognitive development with job responsibilities, providing a practical model for competency improvement and the standardization of nursing education systems.
