Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the effect of Advanced Nursing Practice in the airway rehabilitation management program for patients undergoing tracheostomy, providing a reference for promoting the rehabilitation of patients with tracheostomy. Methods: Based on existing issues, evidence was reviewed to develop airway management program. A non-synchronous controlled study was conducted, with 26 patients who underwent tracheostomy at a tertiary grade A hospital in Chengdu from September to December 2022 serving as the control group, and 34 patients from September to December 2023, treated under the Advanced Nursing Practice in airway rehabilitation management program, serving as the intervention group. The success rate of successful extubation, medical expenses, and other aspects between the two groups were compared. Results: The success rate of extubation in the intervention group (32.4%) was higher than that in the control group (3.8%), with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of the number of days with tracheostomy during hospitalization and the average length of hospital stay (P>0.05). The medical expenses in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, and the family satisfaction score in the intervention group was higher than that in the control group, all with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: The Advanced Nursing Practice in airway rehabilitation management program for patients undergoing tracheostomy contributes to enhancing the success rate of extubation, facilitating multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based nursing practices, and optimizing patient outcomes.
