Abstract: Objective: To examine the effects of a graded prevention program for breast cancer patients with Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN). Methods: A total of 145 breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy in the breast surgery department of a tertiary hospital in Wuhan from July 2020 to July 2021 were recruited and assigned to the experimental group (n=72) and the control group (n=73) according to their admission dates. Patients in the experimental group was given a graded prevention program, while patients in the control group received routine prevention measures. The incidence of CIPN, grade of CIPN, and the symptom severity of CIPN were compared between the two groups. Results: The incidence, grade and severity of CIPN-related symptoms of patients in the experimental were lower than those of patients in the control group during chemotherapy and one month after the chemotherapy (P<0.05). Conclusion: The graded prevention program for breast cancer patients with CIPN can reduce the incidence and grade of CIPN, and can effectively improve the CIPN-related symptoms in breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy, and then help to improve their life quality.
