Evidence summary for self-management of adolescents with epilepsy in transition readiness from adolescents to adults

Abstract: Objective: To summarize the relevant evidence of self-management of adolescents with epilepsy in transition readiness from adolescents to adults. Methods: Clinical practice guidelines, best practice, recommended practice, systematic review, evidence summary, expert consensus, etc, on self-management adolescents with epilepsy in transition readiness were searched. The search period is from database establishment to May 10, 2023. After methodological quality was assessed, evidence was extracted and summarized. Results: Nineteen articles were included, including five guidelines, six systematic reviews, seven expert consensus, and one recommended practice. Finally, a total of 34 pieces of evidence were summarized, including 3 aspects and 9 categories of management principles, environmental support (joint participation, platform construction), behavioral support (transition preparation record, antiepileptic drug compliance skills, lifestyle skills, out-of-hospital AS seizure skills), and cognitive support (patient education, positive psychology, shared decision-making). Conclusion: The evidence summary in this study is comprehensive, scientific, and practical, and provide reference for supporting self-management for adolescents with chronic diseases.
