Death education for clinical nurses in China: a scoping review

Abstract: Objective: To conduct a scoping review of relevant studies on death education for clinical nurses in China, and to provide a reference basis for the research and practice of death education for clinical nurses in China. Methods: In accordance with the research methodology of the scoping review, relevant Chinese and English databases were systematically searched, and literature screening and extraction were completed by two researchers according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the extraction results were collated using descriptive and thematic analyses. Results: A total of 1678 studies were searched and 19 studies were finally included. The studies were mainly cross-sectional and quasi-experimental, and the main findings included the need for death education, the content of death education, the implementation methods of death education. Conclusion: At present, death education for clinical nurses in China is still in the stage of practical exploration, and in the future, we should learn from foreign research results and experiences, further pay attention to the practicality of the content of death education, enrich the way of carrying out death education, and improve the tools for research on death education, so as to promote the sustainable development of death education for clinical nurses in China.
