Pain experience in acute postoperative phase of patients with mixed hemorrhoids

Abstract: Objective: To understand the acute postoperative pain experience of patients with mixed hemorrhoids, and to provide reference for the adoption of targeted interventions to relieve pain. Methods: Using phenomenological method in qualitative research, and 9 patients with postoperative pain of mixed hemorrhoids were selected for purposeful sampling for semi-structured in-depth interviews, and the Colaizzi 7-step analysis method was used to analyze data. Results: The acute pain experience of patients with mixed hemorrhoids can be summarized into 5 themes: ①deep pain experience; ②continuous negative thinking about pain; ③pain attribution; ④expectation of social support; ⑤in addition to painkillers, also expect traditional Chinese medicine nursing technology. Conclusion: Patients with mixed hemorrhoids have heavy burden and demand pain beliefs in the acute phase after surgery. Medical staff must establish a complete pain management system for patients after surgery, so that they can form correct pain cognition and establish an effective emotional and family support system, improve pain self-management ability, and promote postoperative recovery.
