The effect of narrative nursing clinical practice on improving the quality of humanistic care of psychiatric nurses

Abstract: Objective: To analyze the effect of narrative nursing clinical practice on improving the quality of humanistic care of psychiatric nurses. Methods: From July 2018 to October 2019, using a convenient sampling method, 341 nurses from a tertiary psychiatric hospital in Beijing were selected as the research objects. A one-year narrative nursing project was implemented and evaluated by Nursing Caring Characters Assessment Tool (NCCAT). Results: After the implementation of the narrative nursing project, the total score of humanistic care quality and the scores of each dimension were significantly higher than those before implementation (P<0.05). Conclusion: Developing clinical practice based on narrative nursing can effectively improve the humanistic care quality of psychiatric nurses, and then promote the improvement of their nursing quality.
