Abstract: Ankyloglossia may lead to difficulty in breastfeeding and affect growth and development of infants. This paper reviews the definition, diagnosis, impact on breastfeeding and management of ankyloglossia. It is suggested to strengthen the evaluation and guidance of obstetric medical staff on breastfeeding, and improve the ability to identify the short lingual frenulum, and cultivate a team of specialized nurses with professional breastfeeding guidance skills. And it points out that further research on effective management strategies for breastfeeding of infants with ankyloglossia in the future is needed, so that clinical medical staff could provide the best information for the parents of infants with ankyloglossia and promote breastfeeding.
