Abstract: Objective: To summarize evidence on the management of xerostomia in patients with terminal cancer, and provide an evidence-based basis for clinical practice. Methods: Based on the "6S" pyramid model of evidence-based resources, the top-down search was conducted for articles on the management of xerostomia in patients with terminal cancer in databases and relevant websites. The retrieval time was from the establishment of database to March 1, 2023. Quality evaluation and evidence extraction of the included literature were conducted independently by 4 researchers trained in evidence-based care systems, and we combined with specialists' advice to summarize the evidence. Results: A total of 12 articles were included, consisting of 5 clinical decisions, 2 guidelines, 3 systematic reviews and 2 expert consensus. Totally 20 pieces of evidence were summarized from 4 aspects of management principles, assessment and screening, non-pharmacological interventions, and pharmacological interventions for xerostomia. Conclusion: The summary of evidence on the management of xerostomia in patients with terminal cancer can provide an evidence-based basis for healthcare professionals to effectively manage patients' xerostomia and oral health-related problems in an appropriate, scientific and prudent way to alleviate patients' discomfort, and improve the quality of hospice services.
