Abstract: Objective: To translate and verify the validity and reliability of the short form of the Questionnaire Quality from the Patient’s Perspective for Palliative Care (QPP-PC). Methods: Standard forward-back translation techniques, including translation, back translation and cross-cultural adaptation, were used in the translation of the QPP-PC according to the Brislin translation model. Reliability and validity were tested with QPP-PC data collected from 420 subjects in two pilot hospice care hospitals and one hospice care ward in Henan Province by convenience sampling. Results: The Chinese version of QPP-PC included 4 dimensions: Medical-technical competence (2 items), Physical-technical conditions (3 items), Identity-oriented approach (9 items), Sociocultural atmosphere (6 items) and 5 single items. Each item needs to be answered in terms of both Subjective Importance (SI) and Perceived reality (PR). The Cronbach’s α coefficient of SI subscale is 0.918, the retest reliability is 0.901, and the half reliability is 0.751. The Cronbach’s α coefficient of PR subscale is 0.900, the retest reliability is 0.887, and the half-fold reliability is 0.779. Conclusion: The Chinese version QPP-PC shows high validity and reliability to be used in assessing the quality of palliative care.
