Causes of low adherence to low sodium diet in patients with Chronic Heart Failure: a Meta-synthesis

Abstract: Objective: To systematically evaluate and integrate the causes of low adherence to low sodium diet in patients with Chronic Heart Failure, with the aim of providing evidence-based guidance for clinical healthcare professionals to develop low-sodium diet-related interventions. Methods: The relevant databases were retrieved, the qualitative studies meeting the inclusion criteria were included, and the findings were integrated. Results: Twelve articles were included, 44 research findings were extracted, which were further grouped into 7 new categories and 2 integrated themes. Theme 1 was personal factors and theme 2 was environmental factors. Conclusion: There were two reasons for low sodium dietary compliance in patients with chronic heart failure. Nursing professionals should pay attention to the causes of low adherence to low sodium diet in patients and provide individualized care.
