Mediating effect of nurses, professional pride on professional values and job engagement

Abstract: Objective: To explore the mediating effect of nurses, professional pride on professional values and job engagement. Methods: From July, 2022 to November, 2022, a total of 642 nurses were surveyed by general information questionnaire, Nurse Professional Values Scale (NPCS), Nursing Professional Pride Scale (NPPS), and Work Engagement Scale (WES). Results: The scores of NPCS, NPPS, and WES were 103.09±21.28, 96.84±20.05, and 32.08±10.48 respectively. Nurses' professional values were positively correlated with job engagement (r=0.747, P<0.001) and professional pride (r=0.803, P<0.001) and professional pride was positively correlated with job engagement (r=0.796, P<0.001). Nurses' professional pride played a partial mediating effect between professional values and work engagement. Conclusion: Nurses, professional pride is a mediating variable between professional values and job engagement, and managers can increase the job engagement by improving professional pride.
