Abstract: Objective: To review literature on preventive interventions for post-ICU cognitive impairment, identify effective prevention and management measures, and summarize cognitive function evaluation indicators and tools. Methods: We conducted a literature search in English and Chinese databases to identify relevant studies from database inception to May 12, 2022. Two reviewers independently screened studies, collated and analyzed study findings. Results: 14 studies were included, of which 12 were randomized controlled trials and 2 were quasi-experimental studies. The preventive interventions included exercise rehabilitation, cognitive training, awakening promotion, virtual reality, psychosocial interventions and integrated nursing care. The outcome measures could be divided in 3 categories: the incidence of post-ICU cognitive impairment, overall cognitive function and cognitive function in specific domains. The evaluation tools included the cognitive function assessment scale and neuropsychological tests. Conclusion: Multi-component integrated nursing interventions are more effective than simple interventions. It is necessary to further explore the optimal intervention contents, timing and frequency, and standardize the evaluation indicators and tools to provide more high-quality evidence for post-ICU cognitive impairment prevention and management.
