Abstract

Abstract: Objective: To translate the English version of the Palliative Nursing Care Quality Scale (PNCQS) into Chinese, and to preliminarily test its reliability and validity. Methods: According to the Brislin translation model, forward translation, backward translation, and culture adaptation were conducted. In January 2022, the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of PCPS were tested among 326 nurses in three tertiary grade A hospitals in Hubei province. Results: The Chinese version of PNCQS had 20 items. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total scale was 0.913, and the 3-week test-retest reliability of the total scale was 0.893. The Scale-Content Validity Index was 0.981, and the Item-Content Validity Index ranged from 0.852 to 1.00. This was a single factor scale which explained 76.4% of the total variance, and all fitting coefficients were over 0.9. Conclusion: The Chinese version of the PNCQS has good reliability and validity under Chinese cultural background. It can be used as a reliable assessment tool for the nurses' palliative nursing care quality in China.
