Analysis of the status quo and influencing factors of work family conflict among ICU nurses in tertiary grade A general hospitals

Abstract: Objective: To understand the current situation of work family conflict among ICU nurses in tertiary grade A general hospitals and analyze its influencing factors. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 252 ICU nurses in five tertiary grade A general hospitals in Yantai from February to April 2022 by using the general information questionnaire, work family conflict scale, perceived organizational support scale and psychological detachment scale. Results: The overall score of ICU nurses' work family conflict in tertiary grade A general hospitals was 59.45±15.37, the total score of perceived organizational support was 35.63±12.97, and the total score of psychological detachment was 9.31±4.16. Emotional support, instrumental support, psychological detachment, gender, age, children's situation and working years in ICU accounted for 43.2% of the variation of ICU nurses' work family conflict. Conclusion: The work family conflict of ICU nurses in tertiary grade A general hospitals is at a relatively high level, which is affected by many aspects, among which psychological detachment and perceived organizational support have a greater impact on the conflict. Nursing managers could reduce the level of work family conflict of ICU nurses by improving the psychological detachment and perceived organizational support of ICU nurses.
