Abstract: Objective: To investigate the geriatric nursing competence of clinical nurses in Beijing and analyze its influencing factors, so as to provide theoretical basis for improving the geriatric nursing competence of clinical nurses. Methods: From April to May 2022, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 3202 clinical nurses from 28 medical institutions in Beijing using the general information questionnaire and Geriatric Nursing Competence Scale for Clinical Nurses. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of geriatric nursing competence of clinical nurses. Results: A total of 3202 valid questionnaires were collected. The total score of geriatric nursing competence of clinical nurses was 119.85±36.60, and the average score of overall items was 2.78±0.85. Among the three first-level dimensions, the score of professional literacy was the highest, and the score of professional development was the lowest. Among the 10 second-level dimensions, the score of safety management was the highest, followed by critical thinking, and the score of scientific research innovation was the lowest. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, geriatric nursing work years, being a senior professional nurse or not, likeness of clinical work, and clinical work satisfaction were independent influencing factors of geriatric nursing competence of clinical nurses (P<0.05). Conclusion: The geriatric nursing competence of clinical nurses is not balanced and at a medium level. Attention should be paid to the professional development competence, especially the cultivation of scientific research and innovation competence. The hospital should carry out geriatric nursing related training to improve the geriatric nursing competence of clinical nurses.
