Analysis on effects of multi-point practice by nurses in the blood sampling room of a tertiary hospital in Beijing

Abstract: Objective: To explore the feasibility of multi-point practice in blood sampling room in tertiary hospitals. Methods: By means of convenient sampling method, the blood collection quality (puncture success rate , blood collection accuracy, etc.),patient waiting time, patient satisfaction, nurse labor cost, multi-point nurse income and satisfaction were compared between multi-point licensed nurses and non-multi-point nurses. Results: The labor cost of nurses in the clinic was reduced by 37.31% and the average waiting time of patients in the high peak period was shortened by 7 minutes after the implementation of nurses multi-point practice. Meanwhile, more nurses used their spare time to realize their own value. Their financial income increased by 22.44% and satisfaction increased by 11.52%. Conclusion: The quality and quantity of blood collection is the same as that of other nurses. The patient satisfaction is improved and the labor cost can be effectively reduced by using homogenized management for cost, and reflects the professional value of nurses. The nurses multi-point practice can be popularized in tertiary hospitals.
