Abstract: Objective: To investigate the professional training and career development needs of digestive endoscopy nurses, so as to provide reference for clarifying the standardized training program for digestive endoscopy nurses and promoting the sustainable development of the profession. Methods: A self-designed Questionnaire on training and career development needs for digestive endoscopy nurses was distributed to nursing staff in digestive endoscopy in 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities to collecte data. Results: A total of 4509 nurses were recruited. For them, 33.40% regarded that the knowledge and skills acquired in school were unable to meet the current job demands, team assistance ability (76.98%), clinical operational ability (76.56%), and communication ability (74.01%) were very important for digestive endoscopy nurses. Totally 80.53% of the participants regarded the most urgent topic for developing the profession was to establish professional training bases. Conclusion: It's necessary to improve the standardized training system for specialized nurses of digestive endoscopy, and to implement the nationwide qualification certification, so as to meet the training and assessment needs of nursing staff at different levels.
