The current status and analysis of the characteristics of COVID-19 infection among medical staff in Wuhan

Abstract: Objective: To explore the infection status and analyze the characteristics of COVID-19 among medical staff in Wuhan, so as to provide corresponding targeted intervention. Methods: The questionnaire of infection status for COVID-19 medical staff was developed and the convenience sampling method was adopted to distribute the questionnaire through the "Wenjuanxing" online surveys. Totally 105 medical staffs were investigated, and the questionnaires were screened strictly and data were statistically analyzed. Results: The characteristics of COVID-19 among medical staff are mainly in following aspects (P<0.05): infected medical staff with COVID-19 in Wuhan directly contacted with infectious patients before infection, discomforted before illness but insisted on work, the working scene of possible infection was ward, day shift at the time of infection, performed fever symptom at the time of illness, the type of illness was mild, performed anxiety and tension after infection, thought that the department facilities are not in conformity with requirements of respiratory infectious diseases. There were significant differences between the infection of medical staff and age, type of work, hospital and department at the time of infection (P<0.05). Conclusion: In hospital, we should cut off the route of transmission, take protective and isolation measures, reasonably allocate human resources, restrict the stay and visitation, reduce the risk of infection of medical staff, regularly carry out infection prevention training, evaluate and intervene the mental health and increase the organizational support for all medical staff in hospital, and take targeted prevention and intervention measures according to different infection problems of different medical staff.
