Abstract: Objective: To describe the exercise compliance after discharge and exercise self-efficacy of patients receiving hip arthroplasty and to explore the relationship between them. Methods: The self-designed questionnaire of exercise compliance and the self-efficacy rehabilitation outcome scale were used to investigate a total of 125 patients who were given hip arthroplasty. Results: The average score of exercise compliance after discharge was 58.16±8.34, which was on an intermediate level. The score of exercise self-efficacy had achieved the average level of 62.42±14.92. Multiple linear regression results suggest that exercise self-efficacy is an important influencing factor for exercise compliance after discharge of patients receiving hip arthroplasty. Conclusion: The exercise compliance after discharge of patients receiving hip arthroplasty is low, and the intervention to increase exercise self-efficacy could promote the exercise compliance after discharge.

Key words: hip arthroplasty; exercise compliance; exercise self-efficacy
