Abstract: Objective: To investigate the current status of the pre-treatment of reusable medical devices in hospitals in China, providing a scientific basis for the revision of relevant policies and standards for infection control in Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD). Methods: From May 13 to 29, 2025, 2377 hospitals across 31 provinces in China were selected as the research subjects by using convenience sampling method. A questionnaire was designed based on the requirements of relevant standards for CSSD to investigate and analyze the pre-treatment status of reusable medical devices in hospitals of various levels. Results: Among the 2377 hospitals surveyed, 68.91% of CSSDs had established standardized operating procedures for pre-treatment; 45.77% of hospitals applied moisturizing treatment for devices that do not enter the CSSD within 1 hour after use; 78.63% of clinical departments and 88.35% of operating rooms performed pre-treatment on instruments after use; 59.44% of clinical departments and 68.24% of operating rooms performed on-site pre-treatment for reusable devices used by patients with infectious diseases. Conclusion: The overall execution level of reusable medical device pre-treatment in Chinese hospitals needs improvement. It is essential to strengthen institutional management, personnel training, and risk awareness, and establish operating procedures and dedicated facilities to provide a guarantee for hospital sterilization quality.
