Abstract: Objective: To adapt and test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of ICU Nurses' Alarm Fatigue Questionnaire. Methods: Translation, back translation and cultural adjustment of the English version of the ICU Nurse Alarm Fatigue Scale to determine the dimensions and items of the Chinese version of the scale. A convenience sample of 296 ICU nurses were investigated. The results were analyzed to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: The Chinese version of ICU Nurse Alarm Fatigue Questionnaire includes 13 items. Four common factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 59.568%. The S-CVI/Ave of the scale level was 0.920, and I-CVI of the item level was 0.830~1.000; the Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.771, and the test-retest reliability was 0.966. There was a significant difference in the score of the scale between night shift nurses and non-night shift nurses (P<0.001). Conclusion: The Chinese version of ICU Nurses' Alarm Fatigue Questionnaire has good reliability and validity, which can be used to evaluate the alarm fatigue level of ICU nurses in China.
