Abstract: Objective: To understand the acceptance of illness in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and analyze the influencing factors. Methods: The convenient sampling method was used to select 178 patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease who were treated in a tertiary grade A hospital, using the general data questionnaire, acceptance of illness scale, resilience scale for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, the cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire-Chinese version, and perceived stigma scale in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Results: The average disease acceptance score of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease was 23.79±7.64, and 30.90% of patients could not accept their disease. The results of multiple linear regression showed that education level, disease severity, positive cognition, and catastrophizing were significant predictors of illness acceptance, explaining 42.20% of the total variation in acceptance of illness. Conclusion: The illness acceptance of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease was at a low-medium level. Medical staff should pay close attention to the assessment of the illness acceptance in this population and take precise interventions based on the patient's education, disease severity, positive cognition, and catastrophizing to improve their illness acceptance.
