Abstract

Abstract: Objective: To conduct a scoping review of the application of mHealth for loneliness of older adults. This review aimed to explore the carriers, contents, and effects of mHealth interventions and provide a reference for developing effective interventions for loneliness in older adults. Methods: Based on the methodological framework of the Joanna Briggs Institute Scope Review Guide, we systematically searched PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastru cture, WanFang Database, and SinoMed from their inception to February 5, 2023. Data was independently screened and extracted by 2 researchers. Results: A total of 18 articles were included. The interventions of the application of mHealth for loneliness consisted of providing health guidance, improving social support, psychological interventions, and teaching older adults how to use mobile devices. Outcome indicators included the validity and feasibility of the intervention. Conclusion: The application of mHealth in improving the loneliness of older adults is feasible and has positive effects. It is suggested that mHealth platforms can be developed incorporating multidisciplinary cooperation to improve the loneliness of older population.
