Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the application effects of PICC related venous thrombosis risk assessment tool in cancer patients, to identify the critical value of high risk, and to evaluate the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the tool. Methods: A prospective study was conducted, and 143 cancer patients were included. Patients were assessed with PICC related venous thrombosis risk assessment tool at the 24th hour after catheterization, and Color doppler ultrasound was performed on the 7th, 14th and 21st day after catheterization, or when patients felt related symptoms. Results: The area under ROC curve of the risk assessment tool was 0.925 (95% CI:0.861-0.988, P<0.001), the best critical valve of it was 6.5, the sensitivity was 91.7%, the specificity was 85.0%, the positive predictive value was 67.4%, and the negative predictive value was 96.9%. The score ranged from 2 to 12, and there were 49 patients with assessment scores above 6.5. The risk of thrombosis for patients with high-risk was 21.102 (RR=21.102, 95% CI: 6.814-65.346) times higher than that for patients with low-risk. Conclusion: PICC related venous thrombosis risk assessment tool has good value in predicting the risk of PICC related venous thrombosis in cancer patients.
