Status and influencing factors of job crafting among nurses in emergency departments of tertiary grade A hospitals from Sichuan-Chongqing region of China

Abstract: Objective: To understand the current situation of job crafting among nurses in emergency departments of tertiary grade A hospitals from Sichuan-Chongqing region of China and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 562 emergency department nurses in 18 tertiary grade A hospitals from Sichuan-Chongqing region China from May to July, 2023 by using the job crafting scale, the leisure crafting scale, the psychological capital questionnaire, the decent work perception scale, and the psychological detachment scale. The influencing factors of job crafting were analyzed. Results: The total score of emergency department nurses' job crafting was 61.80±10.52. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that professional titles, working years, leisure crafting, psychological capital, decent work perception, and psychological detachment were the main factors influencing job crafting of emergency department nurses (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Emergency department nurses in tertiary grade A hospitals reported moderate to higher level of job crafting which is affected by several factors. Nursing managers should pay attention to emergency department nurses with junior titles and low working years, and encourage them to participate in activities of leisure crafting, and improve their decent work perception and psychological capital, and strengthen intervention of psychological detachment, so as to further improve the job crafting level of emergency department nurses.
