Abstract: Objective: To analyze the effects of case management model on improving self-care ability, urinary symptoms and patient experience of patients with prostate cancer experiencing endocrine therapy. Methods: A cluster random sampling method was used to recruit 90 patients with prostate cancer experiencing endocrine therapy from January to August of 2018 in a tertiary grade A hospital in Changsha, Hunan province. They were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 45 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received routine care and follow-up, while patients in the experimental group received 6 months of case management in addition to the routine care and follow-up. Self-care ability, urinary symptoms and patient experience of the two groups were compared. Results: After 6 months of intervention, the total score of self-care ability of the experimental group was higher than before and the control group. The scores of the International Prostate Symptom Scale and patient experience were lower than before and the control group. All differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The case management model can effectively improve the self-care ability, urinary symptoms and experience of patients with prostate cancer experiencing endocrine therapy.
