Abstract: Objective: To promote the close cooperation of the specialist medical associations, promote the homogenization of continuous care services in the region, and provide high level and satisfactory health services for the people in the northwest of Sichuan. Methods: Seven specialist nurse training bases were built up. The four teams of doctors, nurses, technicians and information engineers performed the five "1" training modes in the specialized nursing training program before, during and after the training program. Results: The practical ability of the specialist nurses was significantly improved after the training program (P<0.01). Totally 289 specialist practice nurses from 53 hospitals passed the training program. After the training program, 5 county-level hospitals opened specialist nursing clinics. The nurses carried out nursing training more than 100 times, revised more than 60 procedures, and carried out more than 20 new nursing tasks. Conclusion: The establishment of the specialist nurse training bases have provided continuous education program for specialist nurses effectively, which can improve the training system for specialist nurses and the quality of nursing services in northwestern Sichuan. It will promote the close-knit specialist medical association construction.
