The influence of positive psychology group counseling on the transition shock of newly graduated nurses

Abstract: Objective: To explore the influence of positive psychology group counseling on the transition shock of newly graduated nurses. Methods: All the newly graduated nurses in one hospital were included. They were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, which was 34 nurses and 31 nurses respectively. The nurses in the control group participated in the regular business training of the hospital. The nurses in the experimental group received extra five weeks of active psychological group counseling. The newly graduated nurse transition shock scale was applied before and after the intervention. Results: After intervention, the transition shock score of the nurses in the experimental group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). For the nurses in the experimental group, the total score of transition shock after the intervention was lower than the score before the intervention, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). Conclusion: Positive psychology group counseling can effectively alleviate the impact of newly graduated nurses.
