Methods: Questionnaires including a general data questionnaire, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale and Career Calling Scale were used to investigate 510 frontline nurses who joined the treatment and care of patients with COVID-19 in Tai'an. Results: The total resilience score and the career calling score of the those nurses were (66.24±14.36) and (42.87±6.56), indicating a positive correlation between the psychological resilience of those nurses and their career calling (r=0.547, P<0.01). Working years, participation in public emergencies, resilience and strength were the predictors of professional mission of frontline nurses, which accounted for 33.1% of the total variance. Conclusion: In the context of COVID-19, the career calling of frontline nurses including also those contract nurses was relatively high, which was related to their psychological flexibility. Nursing leaders were supposed to give more encouragement and support to senior and experienced nurses, and try to improve the psychological flexibility of frontline nurses at the same time to enhance their inner tenacity and strength.
