Abstract: Against the backdrop of population aging, dementia has become a prominent public health concern, and dementia-friendly communities serve as an effective solution to this issue. Taking the "Four Pillars" framework proposed by Alzheimer's Disease International as the analytical tool, this paper reviews the practices of building dementia-friendly communities in Macao, China from 2016 to 2025. It systematically elaborates relevant policies, organizational arrangements, cross-departmental collaboration and public education initiatives, and summarizes the characteristics and practical outcomes of local practices. Combined with the aging situation and existing deficiencies of elderly care services in Chinese mainland, this paper puts forward localized suggestions in terms of top-level design, talent cultivation, community operation and social mobilization. It aims to provide practical references for Chinese mainland to develop dementia-friendly communities, improve the elderly care system and implement the healthy aging strategy.
