Abstract: Objective: To develop an evidence-based educational handbook on fluid volume management for elderly patients with Chronic Heart Failure (CHF), thereby assisting patients in managing their fluid intake in a scientific and standardized manner. Methods: Patient needs were identified through semi-structured interviews. An educational content framework was constructed through evidence retrieval and expert consultation, upon which the handbook was designed and produced, and a specific implementation plan was formulated. Elderly patients with CHF (n=52) who were admitted to the cardiology department of a tertiary grade A hospital in Nanjing from November 20, 2025 to December 31, 2025, and their primary caregivers (n=48), were selected as the subjects of the program application. A survey was conducted to assess their initial satisfaction with the use of the handbook. Results: The educational handbook on volume management for elderly CHF patients comprises six main themes and 18 sub-themes; a comprehensive implementation plan was formulated, covering implementers, timing, procedures, the teach-back method and outcome evaluation; the handbook was preliminarily applied with an average overall satisfaction score of (4.35±0.52) points. Conclusion: The educational handbook on volume management for elderly patients with CHF is both scientifically sound and practical. It emphasizes elderly-friendly design and feasibility, and has received a high level of user acceptance; it may serve as a reference for the development of other public health education materials.
