Abstract: Objective: To explore the influencing factors of paternal breastfeeding attitude and to provide targeted suggestions for attitude improvement. Methods: From April to September 2018, the spouses of the pregnant women who attended courses in the prenatal education center of a public obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Hangzhou was investigated before the course by the Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale (IIFAS). The simple linear regression and multiple linear regression for multivariate analysis was used to determine the influencing factors. Results: A total of 188 fathers were recruited in the study and the mean score of IIFAS was 62.70±6.74. The multiple linear regression model indicated that paternal education, feeding intention and maternal parity were the main influencing factors of paternal breastfeeding attitude. Conclusion: We should pay more attention to promote breastfeeding attitude among fathers with bachelor degree or below, primiparous wife and not positive intention for exclusive breastfeeding, in order to reduce negative impacts, enhance supportive ability and activate the father's role in breastfeeding promotion.
