Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of early comprehensive rehabilitation intervention on preventing ICU-Acquired Weakness (ICU-AW) in patients with mechanical ventilation, and to provide reference for effective prevention of ICU-AW. Methods: A total of 86 patients with mechanical ventilation admitted to the ICU of a tertiary grade A hospital in Nanning from January to December 2023 were conveniently included, and the patients were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group with 43 cases respectively. Those in the control group were with routine care and exercise, and those in the experimental group were with early comprehensive rehabilitation training on the basis of routine care. The incidence of ICU-AW, muscle strength score, time of mechanical ventilation, and other indicators were compared between the two groups. Results: A total of 77 patients, including 38 in the control group and 39 in the experimental group completed the study. The incidence of ICU-AW in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05); the muscle strength score, ICU mobility scale score, and Barthel index score of those in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05); and the duration of mechanical ventilation, analgesia and sedation, and the length of ICU stay of those in the experimental group were shorter than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The early comprehensive rehabilitation program is safe and effective, which can improve the muscle strength of patients, effectively prevent the occurrence of ICU-AW, and promote the recovery of patients.
