Abstract: Objective: To translate the Intensive Care Oral Care Frequency Assessment Scale (ICOCFAS) into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity. Methods: After obtaining the authorization of the original author, the original scale was directly translated, back translated, cross cultural debugged and pre tested according to the Brislin classic translation model, and the Chinese version of ICOCFAS scale was formed. A total of 340 patients in ICU in a hospital in Nanchang were investigated by convenient sampling method from July to September 2022, and evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: There was one dimension with 9 items of the Chinese version of ICOCFAS scale, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 60.958%. The content validity of the item level was from 0.889 to 1.000, and the average scale level validity was 0.933. The result of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fitted well: χ2/df=2.887, RMSEA=0.074, RMR=0.016, GFI=0.932, CFI=0.955, NFI=0.933, TLI=0.940. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale is 0.920 and the test-retest reliability is 0.879. Conclusion: The Chinese version of ICOCFAS scale is with good reliability and validity, and it can be used in evaluating the frequency of oral care in ICU patients.
