Abstract: Objective: To translate the Simulation Effectiveness Tool Modified (SET-M) and test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version. Methods: According to guidelines for cross-culture adaptation process, the Chinese version of SET-M was formed through the translation, back-translation, back-translation review, expert consultation, and pilot study. A convenient sampling method was used to recruit 155 nursing students from two comprehensive universities, who participated in the simulation. The questionnaire included the Chinese version of SET-M and Debriefing Assessment for Simulation in Healthcare Student Version (DASH-SV). Results: The correlation coefficients for each item and total score were between 0.67 and 0.88. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the total scale was 0.89, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of each dimension was between 0.74 and 0.86. The retest reliability of the total scale was 0.88. Content Validity Index (CVI) of total scale was 0.80. The subscale Confidence, Debriefing and SET-M total score were moderately correlated with DASH-SV total score (P<0.001). Four factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 82.29%. All items had a load value of >0.40 on the common factors. Conclusion: The Chinese version of SET-M has good reliability and validity, and can be used in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the simulation teaching in nursing undergraduate education of China.
