Abstract: Objective: To explore the depression and risk factors of pregnant women in their second-third trimester in Shaanxi province. Methods: Totally 877 pregnant women were selected from 6 hospitals in Shaanxi province using convenience sampling method. The social demographic questionnaire, the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), the Pregnancy Stress Scale (PPS) and Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) were applied. Results: The 26.9% had antenatal depressive symptoms and average score of EPDS was (9.32±5.24). Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed the risk factors were housing satisfaction (OR=1.429, P<0.01), relationship with partner (OR=1.543, P<0.01), relationship with mother-in-law (OR=1.572, P<0.01), social support (OR=0.929, P<0.001) and pregnancy stress (OR=1.040, P<0.001). Conclusion: The incidence of depression of pregnant women in the second and third trimester is high in Shaanxi province, which is related to social demographic factors, pregnancy stress and social support status. Nurses should focus on the pregnant women with depressive symptoms. Comprehensive care including mental health guidance during pregnancy should be provided to help them to successfully pass the pregnancy.
