Abstract: Objective: To study the influence of peer education based on WeChat group on uncertainty in illness of patients with breast cancer accepting chemotherapy. Methods: Patients with breast cancer accepting first chemotherapy from general surgery of People's Hospital of Daxing District from August 2016 to December 2017 were divided into experimental group and control group according to admission time. 52 patients from control group received routine health education, while 50 patients from experimental group received routine health education and peer education based on WeChat group from first chemotherapy to third Chemotherapy. Chinese version of Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale (MUIS) was used to evaluate the difference of uncertainty in illness between the two groups before and after intervention. Results: There was no statistical difference between the MUIS scores of the two groups before intervention (P>0.05). After accepting peer education based on WeChat group, the score of MUIS in experimental group was significantly lower than control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: WeChat based peer education is useful in helping reduce the uncertainty in illness of patients with breast cancer accepting chemotherapy.
