Effects of early comprehensive nursing intervention on hope and quality of life of breast cancer patients

Abstract: Objective: To explore the effects of early comprehensive nursing intervention combined with early visits by volunteers for patients with breast cancer. Methods: A total of 368 breast cancer patients were recruited from Jan. 2015 to Sept. 2017, and one additional early visit by rehabilitation volunteers were implemented on the basis of routine health education. The Herth Hope Index and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast were assessed before intervention and in 30 days of being diagnosed. Results: The scores of hope and quality of life of patients in 30 days of being diagnosed were significantly improved compared with the score before the intervention (P<0.05). Conclusion: Early comprehensive nursing intervention benefits the improvement of hope and quality of life of patients with breast cancer.
