Abstract: Lighting constitutes a crucial component of the physical environment in the ICU, ICU patients are often exposed to a lighting environment with insufficient daytime illumination and severe light pollution at night. With the continuous advancement of the precision medicine concept, the focus of lighting environment management has gradually transitioned from meeting basic visual needs to targeted regulation of patients' physiological functions. This paper systematically reviews the literature on light environment management in adult ICUs, covering the current status, patient impacts, and management strategies, to inform further research and clinical practice.
