Abstract: Objective: To explore the effects of a home rehabilitation training through stepwise teaching in patients undergoing Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA). Methods: A total of 210 patients undergoing THA for the first time were recruited. The 105 patients admitted from April to November, 2019 were assigned to the control group, and routine care and training were provided to them. Another 105 patients recruited from December, 2019 to September, 2020 were assigned to the experimental group and the home rehabilitation training through stepwise teaching was used in this group. The score of Harris Hip Score, the Barthel index of ADL, and the MOS item Short From health survey of the two groups were compared at the time of admission, before discharge and one month after discharge. Results: On admission, there were no significant differences regarding the score of Harris Hip Score (P=0.108), the Barthel index of ADL (P=0.055) and the score of the MOS item Short From health survey (P=0.161) between the two groups. The score of Harris Hip Score, the Barthel index of ADL, and the MOS item Short From health survey of patients in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group before discharge and one month after discharge (P<0.001). Conclusion: The home rehabilitation training through stepwise teaching can facilitate patients' postoperative rehabilitation and daily activities, and promote physical and psychological recovery.
