Abstract: Objective: To establish an emergency medical rescue mode to ensure rapid and effective response and treatment to medical emergencies. Methods: The rapid response rescue mode was developed according to the theory of emergency management with the injuried (patients) being the main focus, emergency departments the key center and a multidisciplinary team including the emergency response office, medical department and nursing department for support. The service-and-efficiency-oriented mode was consisted of three channels and two responding systems to promote emergency rescue capacity and patients’ satisfaction. Results: Compared with the data collected before its implementation, the emergency room retention time, the time for pretriage decreased. An obvious decreasing trend was also noticed when analyzing the response time and the transfer and hand of patients. The score of emergency response ability [(78.20±3.60) vs (96.70±1.70)] as well as the satisfaction degree of both medical staff (87.5% vs 98.8%) and patients (87.5% vs 96.7%) had significantly increased (P<0.05). Conclusion: Implication of the rapid response rescue mode in emergency departments can effectively shorten the treatment time of the injured (patients), enhance the medical response capacity, and improve nursing quality.
