Abstract: Objective: To translate Perceived Perioperative Competence Scale-Revised-Short Form (PPCS-R-SF) into Chinese and validate its reliability and validity among operating room nurses, thereby providing a reliable and effective tool for assessing perioperative competence perception in this population. Methods: The modified Brislin translation model was adopted for translation, cultural adaptation, and preliminary testing to develop the Chinese version of PPCS-R-SF. A convenience sampling method was used to recruit 519 operating room nurses from four tertiary grade A hospitals in Urumqi from April and December 2024 to evaluate the scale's reliability and validity. Results: The Chinese version of PPCS-R-SF comprised 6 dimensions, including basic knowledge and skills, leadership, teamwork, professional practice, empathy, and professional development, with a total of 18 items. The overall Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.854, test-retest reliability was 0.832, item-level content validity indices ranged from 0.920 to 1.000, scale-level content validity index was 0.914, and criterion-related validity was 0.611. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated good model fit after modification χ2/df=2.668, CFI=0.951, GFI=0.943, TLI=0.930, IFI=0.951, NFI=0.925, RMSEA=0.057. Conclusion: The Chinese version of PPCS-R-SF exhibits satisfactory reliability and validity and can be used to evaluate perioperative competence perception among operating room nurses in China.
