Development and usability evaluation of a WeChat mini program for home management of patients with gynecological malignancies

Abstract: Objective: To develop a WeChat mini program for home rehabilitation management of patients with gynecological malignancies and evaluate its usability, and to provide a feasible tool for home management in this population.Methods: A semi-structured interview was conducted with patients and their caregivers to analyze the needs of home management. Multidisciplinary team meetings were held to determine the structure, functionality, and main contents of the mini program. An iterative approach was used for the development of the mini program. From April to May 2023, patients with gynecological malignancies were selected from the gynecological ward of a tertiary grade A hospital in Beijing using convenient sampling method. A questionnaire adapted from the Technology Acceptance Model was utilized to evaluate its acceptance. Results: The "Zhi Kang Fu" mini program was developed, comprising six modules: expert introduction, health education, postoperative behavior suggestions, complication warning, chemotherapy management, and psychological health. The total acceptance score of the mini program among 54 patients was 156.15±30.93, indicating a high level of acceptance, and most participants reported its convenient and user-friendly of the mini program, and it,s beneficial for disease management. Conclusion: The content and functions of the "Zhi Kang Fu" mini program are comprehensive and targeted, and it can meet the needs of patients for home rehabilitation management.
