Abstract: Objective: To sinicize The Nursing Presence Scale for Hospitalized Patients and test its reliability and validity, so as to provide a reliable and effective evaluation tool for clinical investigation of patients' nursing experience. Methods: After obtaining authorization from the original author of the scale, we translated the English version of The Nursing Presence Scale for Hospitalized Patients and conducted back-translated, and carried out cultural adaptation. Formal questionnaire survey were conducted among the 530 inpatients of a tertiary grade A hospital in Wuhan by convenience sampling. Results: The Chinese version scale contains 33 items and was divided into 4 dimensions. The Cronbach's α for the total scale was 0.931, and for the dimensions ranged from 0.738 to 0.852. The content validity index of the scale was 0.98. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) showed that χ2/df was 1.897, GFI was 0.812, CFI was 0.869, IFI was 0.871, TLI was 0.859, RMR was 0.024, RMSEA was 0.062, which indicated that the four-factor model provided the best fit. Conclusion: The Chinese version of The Nursing Presence Scale for Hospitalized Patients has good reliability and validity, and is suitable for evaluating Chinese inpatients' feelings and experience of nursing presence.
