Evidence summary for early exercise in adults with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

Abstract: Objective: To search and integrate the evidence of early exercise in adult patients with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to provide reference for clinical practice. Methods: Literature on early exercise in adult ECMO patients was systematically searched from domestic and foreign databases, the quality of the included literature was evaluated, and the evidence was extracted and summarized from the literature that met the quality standards. Results: A total of 14 papers were included, including 3 guidelines, 3 expert consensus articles, 3 systematic reviews and 5 original studies. Totally 20 pieces of evidence from 6 aspects including feasibility, multidisciplinary team evaluation, preparation before exercise, exercise monitoring, exercise program and effect evaluation were finally summarized. Conclusion: The evidence of early exercise in adult patients with ECMO summarized in this study is scientific and practical, which can guide clinical practice and promote the standardized management of early exercise in adult patients with ECMO.
